Nature's Candy

For me photography is a window to another world. So many people run through life without taking a moment to see all the splendor that God has placed before us. When I take pictures, I am able to escape from the stress that life presents and just exist in the moment. I am able to to capture a small piece of something to cherish as a remembrance of something truly exceptional. So many places around us, we don't always see, not the way they deserve to be seen, not the way the camera sees them. The picture above was taken several days ago in an effort to capture a new view on the sunset that I see every day, just outside my door at the office, except this time, I didn't leave the building. I shot this one through the 2 foot window that lines the perimeter of our building. I don't have the luxury of having one of these tiny windows, but my neighbor does facing west of all things, so I stood in a chair and captured this one.

This next one was captured at a local military recreation facility, of all places. Beautiful setting. The lily pads in the pond were a brilliant pink color, and the oak provided a majestic frame for this shot. Nature's splendor... true eye candy.

This last one was also taken at the military facility. I found myself fascinated by a wooden overlook in the distance (not sure why), but more impressive was the humbling quiet, almost desolate... The water was so still that the reflection of the spanish moss dangling from the branches hanging over the water was crystal clear. It really was breathtaking being out there... just me, my camera and a spectacular view. Doesn't get much better than that.

  1. THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD READILY DEVELOP AHEAD OF EJECTING UPPER TROUGH
AS IT MOVES ACROSS THE CNTRL/ERN GULF COAST REGION FRIDAY. THE MAIN
CONCERN THIS PERIOD WILL BE THE DEGREE OF BOUNDARY LAYER
RECOVERY/MOISTENING AHEAD OF UPPER TROUGH. MODELS ARE IN GENERAL
AGREEMENT IN TIMING OF UPPER TROUGH NEAR THE AL/GA BORDER BY
06/00Z...ALTHOUGH NAM MODEL IS SOMEWHAT MORE AGGRESSIVE IN
MAINTAINING STRONGER MID LEVEL FLOW INTO THE BASE OF THE TROUGH OVER
THE NRN FL PENINSULA. FORECAST SOUNDINGS ARE QUITE FAVORABLE...IN
REGARDS TO VERTICAL SHEAR...FOR SUPERCELL DEVELOPMENT WITH SFC-6KM
VALUES ON THE ORDER OF 40-50KT. AT THIS TIME WILL MAINTAIN LOW
PROBABILITIES FOR ORGANIZED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS DUE TO THE
UNCERTAINTY IN BOUNDARY LAYER PARCEL DESTABILIZATION.
HOWEVER...FAVORABLE TRAJECTORIES OFF THE ERN GULF OF MEXICO DO
SUGGEST MODIFIED MARITIME TROPICAL AIRMASS MAY VERY WELL SURGE
INLAND AHEAD OF THIS TROUGH. IF LATER MODEL RUNS CONTINUE TO
SUPPORT THESE TRENDS A SLIGHT RISK WILL LIKELY BE NEEDED TO ADDRESS
THE LIKELIHOOD OF ORGANIZED SUPERCELL DEVELOPMENT
