Downtown Vegas... blast into the past

First, there is a lesson that I have learned here... a very valuable lesson... I should not combine White Russians and casinos... hubby, before you panic, I didn't lose the house, but how much do you like that truck of yours??? ...just kidding. I did get my first real shot at blackjack, though (and besides that, a kind stranger even gave me a dollar to keep me at the table, on account of me being so entertaining-you see, not only am I great at karaoke, I also keep things lively at the tables-and another gentleman kindly taught me a little about craps... you guessed it, cause I'm COOL like that!). It put me back in the hole but not by too terribly much. I think I'm behind by $14.95, all together. As I write, I am recovering from some strong beverage that was served to me at an incredible Italian restaurant (with some of the best tiramisu ever)located inside the Golden Nugget, which is in downtown Vegas (the old strip)... it sort of reminded me of that movie "Cars" where the cars were dealing with the changes brought about by the freeway... The new Vegas strip has hurt the downtown area, but it still has some life... My favorite part of downtown Vegas (aside from the Chippendales-that'll have to be one of those "what happens in Vegas" stories... another thing I can mark off this list of "things-I-need-to-do-before-I-die" ;-) )was this pool at the Golden Nugget. It had a waterslide that tunneled through a huge aquarium that contained sharks and other fish... incredible.

This is where neon lights go to retire... who knew? There was a really awesome light show that was set to music over the old strip. It lit up the entire 4 block cover over the entire area. It was a show in lights unlike anything I have seen before, really phenomenal! I took several pics of that. There was also a fantastic pianist on a flatbed playing "Phantom of the Opera" tunes on a piano. I enjoyed watching and listening to that. This part of Vegas reminded me of Bourbon Street in New Orleans (pre-Katrina)... in fact, the Chippendales actually gave me beads... oops, wasn't supposed to talk about them again... my bad. lol. The weather was perfect for wandering... in fact, it would make ideal Hoover Dam weather, so if I could place an order for weather like this on Wednesday, please... Speaking of weather, I met a guy at a free slot machine (yes, free, just once though) who was from Oklahoma, and he talked about a storm in 1979 there that produced 5 vortexes that merged into one mega-tornado... yes, I talk weather with everyone... anyway, does anyone know about this storm, or was he just yanking my chain...? I am too tired and lack sufficient sobriety to carry out proper research... y'all just let me know, OK?

That about sums up the evening... I don't know how my schedule looks going forward... Looks like I'll have to buy another day of internet...

Good night, or morning, depending on where you are...
