Could we have Big Bertha out of the eastern Atlantic???

Well, Jay sent me an email this morning letting me know about a STRONG TROPICAL WAVE in the far eastern Atlantic, just off the coast of Africa, has a slight chance of development. WHAT?! An eastern Atlantic cyclone forming in early July?! What an atypical year!! I guess we'll see what happens, but I guess we could be looking at the early stages of Big Bertha. Ya think?

Speaking of atypical years, I haven't shared the tornado trend chart in a while, and it has been updated through yesterday (which saw NO tornado reports, despite the wind and hail). Each time I see this chart, I am blown away by this year's tornadic activity... knowing full well that the secondary season lies ahead.Aside from all that, I was in the break room at work... my office has a sweet way of recognizing employees' birthdays during their birth month by posting the person's name, birth date and a little clip art that ties to them in some way... shouldn't be hard to figure out which one I am...

Have a terrific day!

  1. Yes, 92L does look strong! CV storms normally push North this early in the season, but we shall see. We haven't had a large wave off Africe like this one yet this year.

  3. Can't wait for the media to get a hold of this and scare the heck out of everyone regarding oil prices.

I think it was a bit premature for the U.S. govt to predict gas to not go above $4.15 before Labor Day considering it IS hurricane season.

  4. How do you really feel, Steve? I see it happening though. I see one big storm just destroying our pocketbooks, not that they aren't already detroyed...

  5. I seriously hope the hurricane season ends up being anemic like last year. If it isn't, then I most likely will not be able to chase during the fall chase season due to prohibitive gas prices!

On another note, awesome rainbow pics from Wisconsin, Dew! I used to live in Minnesota and that part of the country is my absolute favorite area for photography, and storms can get real nasty up there, too!

  7. I hope we have a mild hurricane season like last year. Just send the rain to Georgia.

  8. Anemic... lol. Great word. I think the gas prices definitely need an easy year, but I am sort of torn. I would like a little chaseable one... boost rainfall totals and keep from destroying the economy. Thanks for the compliments. It was absolutely beautiful!! Of course, I missed all the storms...

Annie, Shouldn't be a problem. It is hurricane season though...

    Andrea, Rain would be WONDERFUL!!!
