Who let the cold out?!

Of course I come up to Atlanta in time to enjoy the COLDEST day of the season thus far. It was funny, my dear Winder friend, who I am staying with, told me that it was raining Saturday, while we were driving up, and I thought great... we'll be just in time for the cold front. Boy, I wasn't kidding. The chill came in hard and heavy, dropping temperatures like crazy yesterday with a wind that literally shook the house. This morning, we are looking at temperatures in the teens throughout the metro-Atlanta area, and the wind chills are putting things into the single digit temps (UGH!) With a forecasted low of 23, the whole teen thing is not pleasing to me. The wind cuts right through you. YUCK! Well, today isn't much better. The revised forecast doesn't have the high temperatures breaching 40 degrees, and with the wind still firmly in place, you know what that means... that's right... Dewdropcicle. The only good thing about the cold weather are the frequent sun dogs (pictured above).

Regardless of the ridiculous cold temps, we have had a wonderful time visiting with some of my dear friends. Unfortunately (sad face), my wonderful gtb had to stay behind to work, so he had yet to meet the elusive Clarkesville bunch. We started in Winder, Saturday night... went to sleep after some long and drawn out (and wonderful) catch up time. Awoke Sunday and got ready to head for lunch in Commerce with the elusive Clarkesville bunch. That momma, being the same level of camera freak as myself, suggested we find a photographic spot to take some group pics (perhaps so I would stop photographing the condiments... check out Mini-Dew's ranch-face). We found an amazing playground with a small foot bridge that was perfectly charming and let the kids play while we snapped away. We had a blast until the cold literally blasted us out of there... brrr. My little monkey high up in the magnolia tree... While I was trying to capture this...... the boy did this...As we were leaving, I stopped to get some inexpensive gas and Mini-Dew spied a pile of puppies that begged her attention, so we, of course, stopped so she could love on them. We were chilled out of there, and we headed down to visit our dear Norcross friends (they are the ones who have that adorable little girl who was injured a while back in the fireworks mishap... she's doing great now! SO CUTE!), had a wonderful dinner and visit and headed home. Wonderful, wonderful day.

Today, we will visit with my dear Cartersville friend and her little one for a lunch and day of shopping, cause we're nuts. lol. I look forward to it! Let's see what this adventure will be like.

Have a great day!

  1. Dew, you can take the chill out of the air by simply layering on the clothing. Nothing helps more then thermal underwear. Not many days pass during the heart of Winter that I do not have both the top and bottom of my body layered starting with the thermals. :)

Enjoy your time in Hotlanta. hehe.

If you like short stories and paintings, then a short visit to my blogs would be a refreshing event.
