The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Another Day...

It looks like they are putting off our "possible" severe weather forecast until... Friday. That stinks! Hopefully, it will be well in place by Friday night because I have exciting plans at the Haunted House at the AFB. That is usually an incredibly scary experience. It's looking like a good group of us going, too... I'd hate for weather to interfere with all of our plans. I'd like to place an order, clear and cool (adds to the shivering, which makes it scarier) Friday night... Cold front, you're going to have to hussle just a little... OK? If only it were that simple. I'd order me up some severe weather at the perfect time for a chase (no youth sports, church commitments, work...), complete with non-life-threatening tornadoes and plenty of simultaneous CG (for the sake of the elusive multi-bolt shot), and while I'm at it, significant viewing range, so I can see it coming from a safe distance and shoot all the pictures my heart desires... (suddenly, the day dreaming storm chaser is slapped back into reality with the pessimism offered by the local discussion...)

This is what the NWS had to say:

BY THURSDAY AND FRIDAY THE FCST BECOMES MUCH MORE DIFFICULT AS A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF TO THE WEST APPROACHES THE REGION...WITH A WARM FRONTAL
PASSAGE EXPECTED ON THURSDAY AND THE COLD FRONT NOW PROGGED TO HOLD OFF UNTIL FRIDAY. THIS MAY REQUIRE SOME SIGNIFICANT ADJUSTMENT TO THE CURRENT POPS... ESPECIALLY ON FRIDAY WHERE THEY WILL HAVE TO BE EXTENDED THROUGHOUT THE DAY DUE TO THE SLOWER TIMING OF THE COLD FRONT. SEVERE WX MAY ALSO HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT...DEPENDING ON HOW MOIST AND UNSTABLE THE ATMOSPHERE BECOMES
BEHIND THE WARM FRONT.

Friday is no good for me...

... but I'm waiting... patiently...sort of. ;-)

  1. Friday will be a decent chase day, but you must hit North Fla. Road options are limited below Fla Hwy 20. Slightly better above I10. Happy hunting.

  2. I am not comfortable voyaging into FL on unfamiliar roads without a GPS and a radio. Soon, though. I should have a video camera soon too. That'll be good.

    Good news is Friday evening in South Central Georgia, we should get something, so I won't have to voyage out too far. I have a friend with a lot of open land and a long range view. She has volunteered her house for storm watching, photographing. I might head up to her place, but that's one problem, it is north... I really need to go south. I guess we'll see on Friday.

    Thanks for reading. Keep checking back.
