the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

All this action out in the plains and we've got nothing...

So many reports coming in, lots of grabs yesterday, 19 tornado reports and some damage reported in Tulia and Cactus, TX, saw some good links to chaser sites including Tony Laubach, Verne Carlson, Michael Carlson, who were chasing together, and Brian Emfinger, even a first hand account of a couple of chasers being chased... glad you're OK, Amos and Eric. Must have been awfully scary! It serves as a good reminder that this is mother nature being contended with... all the forecasting tools, experience and technology aren't a sure bet against what will be. It's important to be extremely cautious and realize that even the most cautious chasers are taking a risk. In other words, everyone, be careful! Still more to come out that way, chasers are setting up for a big two days, moderate risk areas outlined for parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas, even on the day 3 outlook put out by the SPC. I'll be watching on GR3... which according to Steve is the next best thing..... yeah... I'm not feeling it... but if you say so.

As for wx here, well, see for yourself... nothing. Some nice tufts of convection rolling in "relatively moist air", but the cap is rock solid, and the ridge is holding strong. Veering should help moisture (which will hopefully help with the fire), but we are now in severe drought conditions... that pond that I photographed with the fog is almost completely dry. I have NEVER seen it dried up, and I've been in these parts for 13 years. The chase team is talking about 2 trips, one to Waycross to perform a rain dance... Mike'll bring the drums, Rick'll leave his curse at home. The other trip is to the plains... we are really starved for weather... Take a few MCS's and call me in the morning. I hope I get to plains chase soon. (Hey, it could happen... really...)

That's all for me for tonight. I still have to unpack and catch up on some house work.

Toodaloo,

  1. Rain, not to mention tornadoes, is pretty scarce around here too. I'll have to check out some of those chaser links soon.

  2. They're good for a taste of the good stuff, but I'm thinking nothing compares to the real mccoy.
