B Lee, Thanks for visiting my blog. I was a tragic night across those central states. It was/is a vicious storm. God be with those impacted and those about to be impacted.
ReplyDeleteMy sister in law was working at the hospital at the time of the tornado. My brother and their kids were at home and are fine, but no one in my family has heard from my sister n law. Her name is Angula McDonald. If anyone has any information about the hospital or other areas of Mtn. View, please post them here and I will check back frequently. My brother tried to get to the hospital last night, but he couldn't get past the security to make sure that Angue was okay.
ReplyDeleteMegan, I sure hope Angue is OK. I know your brother and the rest of your family must be sick with worry. Thanks for visiting, Megan. I hope you get good news soon.
ReplyDeleteHi my breeder of my dog lives in Mountain View her name is Sue Parracino does anyone know if she is OK. Thank you Donna
ReplyDeleteIf anyone knows the whereabouts of Sue Parracino, please post a comment. Thanks for stopping by, goldriverr.
ReplyDeleteMy father lives in the nursing home in Mountain View. His 90th birthday is this Friday, February 8th. I found out about the tornado because I just got a call from the nursing home telling me that they weren't hit, and that he is OK. I was told that the Stone County Medical Center, the neighboring doctors' office and the Chevy Dealership across the street were wiped out. The wind speed map above shows the tornado on the east end of town. My heart goes out to all of those people who are impacted by this event.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Vegas Jim. I am so glad to hear that your father is OK. It is horrible to hear the death toll from last night's severe weather outbreak. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted.
ReplyDeleteMy mom lives in MV and she finally called me an hour or so ago. The hospital was hit, but all people from there are safe. The Chevy dealership was hit and some homes, but mostly the tornado went through open fields. She said only one lady died in MV. I guess they know no one else is dead because they have checked all damaged places. However, the power system was also hit, for the whole town. So no one has power at all and probably for a few days.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to find more info online, but it's hard. I did find a couple pictures of damage on Highway 5 at http://arkansasmatters.com/content/fulltext/?cid=65281
or just go to their homepage and scroll to the "Sever Weather Photos" and you can see more.
Oh, and I forgot to say... THANKS for having this blog. It's the only other really specific info I was able to find online on MV besides those photos.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous visitor, Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. I am glad that you were able to find useful information. Weather is a passion of mine. I love learning about it and sharing my knowledge. Thank you for sharing the link. I will post it with other links on my top page. Dewdrop Weather blog. Thanks so much for the update on Mountain View!
ReplyDeleteJust got word that the hospital has transfered all the high-risk patients to the Batesville Hospital and the remainder are in the nursing home in Mountain View.
ReplyDeleteThe Father above loves us. He didn't cause this. It's "The Thief" that comes to steal and to kill and to destroy. Godis Light and Love and in Him is no darkness at all.
Anonymous reader, thanks for the update. It sounds like they are getting things taken care of over there.
ReplyDeletePraise Him in the Storm.
I just talked to my sister who lives about 12 miles from mountain view. She told me that the power company says that power should be restored by nid afternoon on sat. No word on the phones tho. Hope this info helps.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update. I will post a link to this info on my main page. Dewdrop Weather.
ReplyDeleteMy Brother and his family live about 1/4 mile from the hospital and I heard on the tv that the hospital got hit and I couldn't get ahold of anyone. After a long sleepless night I got up and drove up there. I live about 1 1/2 hours south of MV. My family was safe. Here are some links to check out for pics. www.wunderground.com and www.focus.arkansasonline.com I went back home through Rushing and Clinton. The devastation is unbelievable! Pray for the people living through this nightmare, families and workers alike.
ReplyDeleteDear visitor, thanks for sharing the information and insight. I am so glad to hear that your family is ok. Continued prayers.
ReplyDeleteI live in Mountain View and work at the MV Telephone Company. We have managed to restore telephone service to almost every part of the county, and we have also restored DSL internet service to those that have generators. Initially, Entergy said the power would be on between 9pm-12am on Sunday night (yesterday), but that did not happening. Now we are being told power may be back on by midnight tonight (Monday). The schools and most businesses are still closed, of course, but everyone has plenty to keep them busy. The cleanup continues on the eastern side of town -- we did have one confirmed fatality and only two serious injuries, thankfully. FEMA has set up a command center here, and of course there are many relief groups serving hot food and handing out water. All of the roads are open but there may be some delays with utility work. Hopefully the power will come back soon and we can really start the cleanup in earnest. Thanks for your blog, btw.

Thanks for the update, Tyler. I will also post it to the main page.
ReplyDelete...and you're welcome. I am glad to share what I can.
My family and I live in Mtn. View, and were here for the storms last Tuesday. My wife weathered out the storm in Harps' meat cooler, where she works, and heard the tornado pass a half-mile from the store. As for myself, I work at the nursing home, in dietary, and had taken our two daughters there for shelter during the storm. As a coworker and I were checking out the storm from the front deck, we could hear the tornado ripping through the east end of town. It's been rough, but we all praise God that no more than what'd passed had occured. I want all that have family in our facility to be assured that they are being well-taken care of by all of the staff. The displaced hospital staff are also working with us there, and are of a tremendous help.
ReplyDeletePower has been restored in most, if not all, of Stone County, so now we'll be able to get a better handle on the clean-up.
Pray for all that've lost their lives, homes, or loved ones during this trying time...not just in Mtn. View, but wherever this storm has affected.
Rob Holt

The power company did a outstanding job of getting our power back and our community has really pulled together. Our volunteer firefighters have worked really hard to help clear the roads and get supplies for our area. HUGE thanks to all who have helped.
