OK, OK, I've caught enough flack for my posting about the Yankee groundhog. I can't help it, I grew up in Boston, people. Anyways, down here in the south, apparently, we have our own groundhog, General Beauregard Lee (yes, seriously), who lives in Stone Mountain, Georgia (appropriately enough), and apparently, he did not see his shadow, which means that "spring is just around the corner", and little did I know... People all over the southeast keep track of General Beauregard Lee's every move on February 2nd, Ground Hog Day, because he has an astounding rate of accuracy. Even The National Weather Service has commended General Beau Lee for his predictions.
It was interesting to learn that this infamous rodent actually lives in a Southern mansion with columns, a fountain and lawn ornaments... the likes of which would not be safe from the Dew... (lawn mowing days are apparently just around the corner, which I am inclined to believe with the forecast for the next couple of days approaching and in the 80's, with severe weather possibilities for Wednesday.) You can click on the pic of General Beauregard Lee for more information about this giant spoiled critter.
I am also pleased to announce that Mini-Dew aced her weather test. She missed two questions about the atmosphere, but she demonstrated her obvious weather geek prowess. I am so proud of my budding weather enthusiast. She was a riot when she showed me the paper... "Are you going to scan it in, so you can post it on your blog???" Of course, I will post it on my blog... my future storm chaser... ;O)
This morning presented a beautiful skyscape, as a crescent moon lingered in the sky as the sun's light offered an amber glow on the horizon just before dawn. I am sorry that I didn't have time for a tripod as I was rushing to get Mini-Dew out to her bus, but it was a wonderful sight that I couldn't pass up... pardon the blur. It looks like a beautiful day lined up for today. I hate the idea of being stuck behind a desk in a concrete block-walled office when the sun is shining, and the temps are perfect for an afternoon outing. I might have to take a couple of personal hours this afternoon... for some pic time. At this point, unseasonably warm temps are forecast with clear skies, until dense fog moves into the area tonight, but temps will remain warm tomorrow... then, we have Wednesday's forecast... HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY. AHEAD OF THE NEXT COLD FRONT... THE FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA ON WEDNESDAY PRECEDED BY A SQUALL LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY THAT SOME OF THE STORMS MAY BE STRONG TO SEVERE DURING THE PRE-DAWN HOURS THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON WITH WIND DAMAGE THE MOST LIKELY SCENARIO. THE SEVERE THREAT NOW LOOKS CENTERED LATE TUESDAY NIGHT IN THE WEST...AND AFTER DAYBREAK WEDNESDAY IN THE EAST (that's where I am).
Given this scenario, looks like Wednesday might be a chase day. I might need to take that morning off and go riding around, chase me some weather (miniature happy dew dance).
Just after posting my CoCoRaHS approved rain gauge arrived. Special thanks to Meso Momma Melissa for that!!! I can't wait until Georgia goes live (looks like May, thanks for the updates, Melissa and Chris). If you are interested in volunteering for CoCoRaHS or would like more information, please feel free to contact me or check out the CoCoRaHS website.
Then, I can't believe it, I almost forgot to talk about the Super Bowl. I must be still in mourning, as the Patriots just barely lost it during the last seconds of the game, killing their shot at an undefeated season, but I must say, it was a great game. Eli Manning did a terrific job for the Giants, but Tom Brady still rocks in my opinion. I can't fail to mention my favorite Super Bowl Ads either. I must say that I loved the one with Worthlessberger (you know, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Squeelers), singing "The Pina Colada Song", as a commercial for American Idol... Even Champions Dream Big... American Idol Promo - Ben Roethlisberger (Worthlessberger), Super Bowl XL Champion

Then, I must be honest in saying that the Richard Simmons commercial for Bridgestone freaked me out, but I loved the one with the squirrel and everyone else screaming. I am sure I missed some, but you can click on the link to other beneath the videos if you are interested in seeing more. Enjoy!Bridgestone Tire Super Bowl Commercial: Squirrel vs Car

Wow, the picture is stunning, no apology is needed!!! Western Canada has also been forecasted an early Spring by the elusive Groundhog but I scoff as I trudge through 2 feet of snow and the forecast is for much more! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michele! It's so glad to see you back in the blog world. I am glad you are doing better, hope you continue to get better! 2 feet of s**w... ewww. I would agree that it is hard to imagine your spring being "just around the corner". Hang in there. lol.
ReplyDeleteThe squirrel one was cute....
ReplyDeleteI haven't looked at all of them, but those are the ones that stood out for me during the Super Bowl.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great day for biking!!!!! Hey what about the Victoria's secret one and the Justin Timberlake where he gets everything thrown at him.
ReplyDeleteI must have been fixin' my dinner... I'll have to check it out. Beautiful joy ride weather!!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go on the test Mini Dew!
ReplyDeleteWhat are they feeding that ground hog...it looks like a friggin' badger! I had not heard that he predicted Spring was coming--my flowers are agreeing as they are starting to bud--in FEBRUARY!
Brady sucked in that game...he couldn't complete a pass to save his life all night. I saw more balls hit the ground than any place else. I don't know very much about football, but throwing the ball to an actual receiver and not the astro turf I think is part of the main idea. BTW I am so mad about it because I was rooting for the Patriots. I'm not dogging them--just venting!
Awesome moon shot--even without a tripod. I don't even own a tripod.
Good luck chasing this week!
Oh and my favorite commercials were the ones with the Budweiser horse training and lizards dancing to Thriller. The squirrel one was pretty good and the one with Charles Barkley calling everyone in his Fave Five all the time.
LOL, Annie. Don't be picking on Brady now. He is only as effective as his receivers...
