Tropical Depression 3, which formed off the coast of South Carolina on Friday was quickly named Tropical Storm Cristobal, and has... as of the last advisory strengthened. Interests on the Carolina coast should monitor this system. Bertha has been hanging on for dear life, just last night being downgraded from a hurricane since her winds dropped to just 70mph, only 5mph beneath hurricane strength. She is now starting to lose tropical characteristics. One more day, and she will make the top ten list of longest lived storms... definitely the longest July storm. Awesome. Invest 94L, down in the Caribbean is ripe for formation. Could we have Dolly? If she enters that GOM...
I'm off to church now.
2:15PM Update: Just got a call from Mini-Dew who is up in Pittsburgh, PA with her dad. She was reporting high winds that almost lifted up their vehicles, caused trees to almost snap, and there were two funnel clouds that dropped and quickly lifted.Oh, and welcome Tropical Storm Dolly!!!Toodles,

Wow! Sure does seem like a lot of tropical activity for just the middle of July. Can't wait to see how this season turns out, though I hope it is not destructive!
ReplyDeleteYes, Ken. It certainly is a lot and quite a leap into the season. I hope it's not destructive, either. It is definitely an interesting season!
ReplyDeleteSeems unfair that the person who views storm watching as interesting as "watching grass grow" is the one experiencing the thing you go seeking....with your mini-me, who just said you should have taken her storm watching instead....glad they were okay, sorry you weren't there!
ReplyDeleteLife with the Dewv@!d, I suppose... they didn't have much. Me too, though...
