the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Toys for all the little boys and girls...

I've been at my work place for many years now, and for our Christmas party during each of the years past, we would come up with some sort of twist on a gift exchange... draw a name and buy them a cheap gift or buy a cheap gift and draw a number, steal the gift before or pick a new one... all the while resulting in a cheap gift of something you didn't want that you have to pretend to like and appreciate because your mom taught you to do that when you were young. Well, everyone grumbled and complained, totally disliking the dreaded gift exchange. Fortunately, this year we did something different. Someone in my office had a superb idea. Instead of purchasing a cheap gift for one of our co-workers, we were to bring a gift (or several gifts) for the "Toys for Tots". Well, let me tell you, everyone in my office raved about this change! How wonderful to be able to fall in line with the true spirit of Christmas, give back, bring a smile to some child's face. Wonderful! As it turns out, the office offered a huge response, filling many large boxes with lots of toys!I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

  1. I came to look at your sky photo and loved it. It is so different than what we usually see.

But, this post caught my eye first. I think that was a wonderful idea and just looking at the tree with all those gifts and toys underneath, made me smile.

  2. Here at the hospital where I work each unit sponsors a needy family maybe a patient we each bring something in and we also use the money from pop can returns ($0.10 a can) what we save all year long and spoil the family with food and gifts for the holidays. It doesn't take much effort but it sure makes you feel good when you do it

  3. Perfect departure from the ridiculous habits we fall into! Awesome idea - and may it live long and well . . . for many years!
