Looks like things are kicking in Central, FL. (OK, yeah, I'm jealous, so?) The SPC just issued MD 443 boasting of supercells and large hail, and a very slight chance for some isolated tornadoes (after all, supercells may produce tornadoes... ;-), with a watch unlikely, but that cell in the center of FL's peninsula is holding together nicely and looks to have some rotation. They're definitely getting their rain and then some.
Update 3:50PM, yep, just got word from the SPC, South FL is under a "slight risk" for severe weather... and lucky dog, Jeff gets to shoot for TWC. Shooting a few supercells ought to be just what the doctor ordered for SDS therapy...
Update 5:20PM: There have been a couple of tornado warnings for the South Florida area, and one is currently ongoing in East Central West Palm Beach County until 5:45. A funnel cloud was reported by law enforcement there.
Update 6:20PM: I happened to notice on refresh that there are currently two hail reports in South Florida from trained spotters... hail from nickel size to golf ball size... Looks now, like things have settled down a bit... still some solid convection rolling in off the GOM, but nothing too severe from the looks of it... Looks like my friend Jess is experiencing some much needed rain. Hope she's getting some pictures.
