Hurricane Bill, to be or not to be... a fish!

Well, with Claudette dissipated into a mere memory, and Ana fizzling to just a low chance of something happening, after a windy rainstorm in the eastern Caribbean, we set our focus on the forecasted major fish... That's right, we expect now category 2 Hurricane Bill to amount to a major fish storm, meaning that we anticipate that Hurricane Bill will strengthen to at least a category 3 hurricane, and will never make landfall. We had a similar situation with Big Bad Bertha, remember her? Well, no you wouldn't, would you...? She was an amazingly beautiful hurricane last year, fish storm... but she lived a LONG life, and during her lifetime, attained the highest hurricane rating, category 5! At least over the past 12 hours, Hurricane Bill has actually started to look like a hurricane (click on the image for a loop), complete with solid eye, more symmetric convection and a very decent size. Yes, as Bill makes his way across the Atlantic, pulling in all available energy and convection, he will become quite a force to be reckoned with... the eye is actually pretty huge right now. The eyewall is tight. Generally, a larger eye does not help strengthen a storm. The eye of a hurricane is formed by rapidly sinking air, and the eyewall contains the strongest winds of the storm. Exciting stuff, huh?
