the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Storm Chasers... not my show

Well, yesterday Mini-Dew had a competition up the road some. We had to be there at 7:30 AM, so we left the house bright and early and headed on up. We stayed around to watch some of the older competitors, and then she wanted to stay and watch some of her close friends, so I did not leave that place, except for a short dinner, until 8:30 PM. It was neat though. I can't say that I didn't enjoy myself, but my house is extremely neglected, so I hope to get a shot at cleaning today. The exciting thing is that I was treated to a gorgeous sky, which, of course, I photographed. It was magnificent, and even though I couldn't take much time to shoot it, because I had just made a coffee run, and I needed to get that inside, I did shoot a few. You know me.

Aside from that, I was taking the doggone dog outside this morning, when I noticed yet more mushrooms... grumble, grumble... so I am obviously frustrated about that when one little cluster of mushrooms catches my eye... The two had grown together, and from my angle, they looked like a heart. It was really... yeah. My mushrooms love me. So, anyone know how to get rid of those crazy things?!

Aside from that, weather has been absolutely beautiful!!! Of course, no severe or even close to chaseable weather, which is a downer, but it has been perfect for outdoor activities. Slight chance POPS remain in the forecast through Thursday, but that shouldn't amount to much or be significant. Hopefully, it won't interfere with Halloween festivities. Speaking of that, Mini-Dew made this pic for me. Too cute. It seems every pic she draws for me now, contains CG. You'd think I'm into weather or something. lol What a sweetie!

Speaking of being into weather, last night I watched the show "Storm Chasers" on the Discovery Channel. No, folks, that is not my show, but I did run into those folks while I was on my chasecation with the Twister Sisters. It was Murdo, SD, in June, major chaser convergence. I talked some with Ronan, the driver of the Tornado Intercept vehicle (TIV), but their camera crew was on a break. It was cool watching the show. They showed the radar captures of the Tulia and Platt tornadoes, which I remember... I was watching those two, while I was arm chair chasing. Of course, they were working with the Doppler on Wheels (DOW). Whether or not the TIV can or has intercepted tornadoes... that's another story. I have heard different viewpoints. Looks like a hunk of junk (no offense guys...) They were a few cars in front of us out chasing, so they probably missed that badlands tornado, too. Murdo, SD was definitely a huge convergence spot. I got to experience the whole gamit of chasing styles, from the TIV, to Tim Samaras and his high tech, high dollar experiments, to the Outlaw Chasers (in their funny shirts)... Interesting stuff.

Oh, and silly me, didn't heed my own advice... Tropical Depression 16... who knew... It's not much of anything, but it is on the scene. It isn't much, won't amount to much, but we will most likely get a Tropical Storm Noel out of it... See what happens when I take a day off?!

Well, that's it for me, for now.

Have a fabulous Sunday!

  3. I saw the advertisement for that show on Discovery today and was planning on telling you it comes on Wednesdays at 10:00 and this Wednesday after it is a show about the science of stormchasing, but I see you didn't need the news. I guess it's the thought that counts. I'll be posting Halloween party pictures soon on my blog, so heads up, they're cute. I'll probably do that tomorrow...it's almost time for Desperate Housewives!!!

  4. So many people were confused about the show, thinking it was the one I was going to be on... no such luck. Soon though. Thanks for thinking of me. I look forward to seeing your pics.
