the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Beautiful sunsets and the Weather Channel back to normal

What a relief it was to see that whatever glitch occurred with yesterday's programming on the Weather Channel has been worked out, and it appears that everything has returned to normal. The on-air meteorologists were much less stressed. The local on the 8's actually offered my local forecast. The current local weather was scrolling at the bottom of the screen. The "hot" weather stories were being discussed (speaking of that, Boynton Beach, FL, got 5" of rain, and they are shutting down water rides at Six Flags to conserve water... seems like they could work something out to get excess rain in one area to a drought stricken area...). The forecast was more thorough. Even the overplayed commercials for "When Weather Changed History" were refreshing. All is well in my weather world. Whew! I am so glad I did not have to go on Weather Channel strike.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of shooting some amazing cloud structure against the setting sun. I was blown away by the magnificence of this spectacular spectacle. The cloud had significant texture (some of the moisture feeding in off the GOM yesterday actually produced a severe warned cell that worked its way up my way. Just in case you have forgotten, the Dewvoid took care of that, so it arrived here as a pretty cloud), and with the sun setting just beneath, they were lit up beautifully. I wasn't planning to shoot the sunset yesterday. In fact, I had a boatload of other things to take care of yesterday, but when I saw it, it was clear to me that I had no choice. I found a spot and started shooting. If I had more time, I would have set up the whole tripod thing and all, but... here are some of my favorites...As for me, I am enjoying these mild temps with the knowledge that things are about to go downhill fast. The temps should be bottoming out tomorrow night, with us waking to freezing temps Friday morning. Yes, folks, we are looking at definite Dewdrop-cicle warnings. On the plus side, the temperatures should rebound quickly returning everything to above average by the end of the weekend. I can hang in there until then.

Alabama Mike shared some of his snow pics from Saturday with me. I chose my favorite to post with his permission, so I hope you enjoy it. It was taken in North Central Alabama by my friend and fellow team chaser Alabama Mike. Great pic, Mike! Thanks so much for sharing that with me.

I have a busy day ahead and a trip to the doctor to have a crackly shoulder looked at... I see large needles in my future... EEK!

Anyways, toodles,
~Dewdrop

  4. Thanks, Annie. No needles, but I think the needles will help me. Cold weather should get close, but it will be brief.

We are going to see the Annie!!! Woohoo!

  7. well here is some advice from the nurse in me. If you don't look at the needle generally you don't know its going to hurt until it's already done and over with. And a little bit of pain to make a whole lot of pain go away is well worth it.
Im still not feeling sorry for you southerners freezing when the other day we had a low of -22 degrees and I didnt even realize it broke a 70 year old record or something like that. Plus we have been having wind chill of like -35 now that is what I call cold. Today when I was driving the further I got away from Lake Superior the colder it got. I think I saw the themometer in the car reading at -10.

  8. Carrie, thanks for the valuable advice. I am not usually a needle wuss, but I had heard about the cortisone needle, and that had me nervous. Looks like I won't be enduring that though.

As for the weather up there... who would want to subject themselves to temperatures like that. Come on back down to Georgia, silly. ;O) What you are enduring goes well beyond Dewdrop-cycle status. That is just doggone C! O! L! D! You will NEVER catch me dealing with that. -35F wind chill should be against the law.
