Tornadoes in Texas and Louisiana

Yet another squall line event is working it's way across the southern states, this time there have been 5 tornado reports. Of course, they occured throught the night, which is never good, but I haven't seen anything about any injuries or deaths, at this point, so that is very good news for now. I am no longer in the middle of the slight risk area outlined by the Storm Prediction Center, as it has shifted westward; the storm must have slowed some. I still remain inside that area, so I will be vigilant in paying attention to the situation today and tonight. Mini-Dew will be with her father tonight, so perhaps... a chasetunity? I hate chasing night storms... so it's doubtful. It looks like things are already beginning to fire up this morning as several tornado warnings have already been issued, and a mesocyclone has popped up on radar in eastern Mississippi, about to enter western Alabama. It's going to be a long day for some.

I will update if an opportunity presents itself.

Happy Sunday,
~Dewdrop

  1. Watch radar for any discrete cells that might develop well out ahead of the squall line in the Gulf and move northeast into Southern GA later this afternoon. Nice heating already underway over the Florida Panhandle south Georgia area. Your winds are southeasterly now, so better moisture should begin to move in. Dew points in your area and southwest to Tallahassee remain in the mid 50Fs, but this has bee steadily increasing all morning. Wish I was up there to play today.

  2. it ended up being a pretty active tornado day this afternoon in western Florida Panhandle and southern AL. Some of these cells moving into southwest GA and just wondering if your out today.

  3. I've got my eye on it. I don't want to make a practice of chasing night time storms. They scare me, especially with the limited visibility here. I don't have Mini-Dew tonight, but I hate to go out in the dark... I'm watching... just about to have incoming. Rotation seems to have settled...
