the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Fall wasn't finished yet!

Though I didn't rest as much as my wonderful gtb would have liked after Monday's procedure, I did rest adequately, in my opinion. The procedure went very well. I had a kinder, gentler nurse this time, who didn't leave a lasting bruise on iv insertion... what a blessing... I am still experiencing the varying shades of bruisedom from the ruptured vein from two weeks ago.

As for the procedure itself, unfortunately, they were behind in OR on Monday, so they gave me my feel good meds and left me sitting outside my operating room, where I waited... and waited.... and waited. So much for having an early appointment. At that point, I was keenly aware of what was going on around me... Lucas, my kind and helpful transporter, got me a toasty warm blanket, the funny little surgery-helper-lady stocking the cart in bright pink galoshes... no lie! The transporter was wearing a cap on his bald head while he left his super full beard unrestrained... Then, there was the little boy wheeled to just outside the room across the hall... as they wheeled him onto the hallway, I heard him announce that he would get to have Burger King after he was done. As he was in the hallway waiting, and the nurse told him it was time to go in... he began to cry. Poor little kid... so me, in my sedation-less wait asked "So, you're going to Burger King, huh?" Through tiny sobs, he responded with a hiccuped, "yes," while wiping his eyes with his non iv'ed hand. I responded, "Oh man, I love the sandwich they have there at Burger King now (Italian Chicken Sandwich-- they rock!). Would you mind picking one up for me while you're there? I am so hungry (seriously, haven't eaten since 7AM at that point, and it was after 1PM then)!" He answered, "Sure," and without missing a beat asked, "What's the matter with you?" Tears now forgotten, I told him, "They are trying to help me get rid of a pain in my neck! What're you here for? (HIPAA? What?)" He showed me his teeth and let me know he was there to see the dentist. They swooped him into the room on that good note. Whew...

Well, I rested Monday hard. Napping most of the day into the night. On Tuesday, I had intervals of rest. Did a load of laundry, took a nap.... visited Mini-Dew's class for a Civil War presentation, took a nap... got a flu shot, got a massage... ahhhh... that was wonderful!

I am better this time than last time, which I take to be a great sign. I am not great, by any means. I just don't feel that I've-just-been-run-over-by-a-freight-train feeling, which is progress! I think the massage helped the shot do its work a little better which helped the chiropractor do his thing a little better, so I am cautiously optimistic... still have a pain in the neck, but I am managing. The leading pic of today's post is from this morning. If that doesn't inspire hope, I don't know what would...

I am personally sad for all those around the country who had their first quite unseasonable snow yesterday. A major snow event swept through the northeast carrying near hurricane strength winds and a foot of snow in some parts... 100,000 without power. You see, the problem is that fall hasn't finished doing it's thing. As suggested in the season's name, the main thing that occurs in fall is that the leaves are supposed to fall. This prevents the tree branches from being too heavy when snow and ice come in the yucky winter months. Unfortunately, the snow arrived before fall was finished, so power loss is extensive. That stinks. Given the fact that I quickly turn into a Dewdropcicle in cold weather, I am not a big fan of the cold days. The 31 on my thermometer this morning was not a welcome sight! At least we didn't have S*@w!

Stay warm,
~Dewdrop

  2. Funny how mike used the profanity asterisk and whatnot when he spelled snow. Hilarious.

I hope the pain in the neck subsides.

  3. hope you're feeling better soon. we really have to get together and talk! I have been enjoying the cold temps, but not the ice encrusted windshield and porch in the mornings. It is always much colder at my house than other areas for some reason. I think we are very low lying and have so much foliage is why.

  6. HIPAA doesn't come into it - you were speaking to the patient, and he was speaking to the patient (you).

Now if medical professional came up and started discussing case in front of someone else, then HIPAA rules apply.

    :D

  7. What a surprise, Mike... lol Roll Tide.

OSNW3, Yeah, that's a long standing joke with us. He's confused about living in the south... thinks s*@w is a good thing... as for the neck, me too.

Annie, lol. Double the comment. Soon, please.

Christine, I shall keep my lips sealed. I think that stuff goes a little overboard at times.
