The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Ah, to awaken to the sound of EAS tones...

So, there I was all snug in my bed, when all of the sudden.... beeeeeeeeep... buuuuuuur... The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a severe thunderstorm warning... etc., etc., but not for your county Dewdrop... go back to sleep. Then, not 15 minutes later... beeeeeeeeep... buuuuuuur... The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a severe thunderstorm warning... etc., etc., but guess what, again, not for your county Dewdrop... sigh. Zzzzzzzz. All I got was a significant weather statement as this line passed through with its mind baffling (not really) 40 mph winds... Anyways, I am awake. The storm passed over, with as far as I know... no incident; however, in Albany, GA, storm parameters were at the severe level and there were some trees reported down.

So anyways, as the day has worn on and the front has moved in, the temperatures have dropped from their very warm near 80 that we've been seeing to around 60... perhaps less, and the wind is sweeping by at about 25-30mph with gusts around 40, but the sky is pretty...Have a lovely day!

  3. I thought you could set those devices to just the counties you wanted? Or did I make that up??

  4. Mikey, Try to stay warm and watch for ice... bridges may ice before highways... etc. SDS is indeed bad.

    Josh, You can have it! S#@wstorm Deprivation Syndrome... LOL!

    Deborah, You are very correct! SAME (Specific Area Message Encoding)coding allows you to program county codes that you choose into your weather radio with such capability, so you will only hear weather warnings for the areas you select. I have entered surrounding counties, so I have advanced notice and an opportunity to get in good position for locally chaseable storms... should that ever happen... lol.

    As for you, I sure hope you know that information because you programmed counties SAME codes into your own weather radio... hint, hint. ;O)

  5. "One does not merely chase storms. There is an evil that never sleeps."

    No EAS tones for me didn't have mine on. Watched it get smaller and smaller as it got closer..Imagine that.

  6. Purrrrtty clouds :o)

    I do the same - have radio programmed for all counties immediately next to us.

    Should have liked that 60 degree weather - since you are showing around 50 now. Need some more blankets, quilts... hot hands & feet? I'll send up a Dewcicle package! :D

  8. What a sound to wake up to for nothing. :-) Love the sky shots. I don't think any two skies ever look the same.
