The long awaited wedding pics and welcome home weather!!!

Welcome home, right? The weather has plans to greet me with some severe stuff on the official forecast, but with the overcast skies and the nearly squalled out line, I am not holding my breath that any instability will take shape. With me here, looks like the Dewvoid will fall firmly back into place. There has been some signs of rotation in isolated cells in this approaching storm system, as well as some tornado warnings, but... you know how it goes. The SPC is likely about to extend a tornado watch into my area. As I type, my EAS tone is sounding Tornado Watch #149...

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

SOUTHEAST ALABAMA
FLORIDA PANHANDLE
SOUTHWEST GEORGIA
COASTAL WATERS

EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON FROM 1010 AM UNTIL 500 PM EDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THIS TORNADO WATCH REPLACES TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 148. WATCH NUMBER 148 WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT AFTER 1010 AM EDT.

DISCUSSION...LINEAR MCS WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE REGION TODAY WITHIN BAND OF STRONG WSWLY FLOW ALOFT AHEAD OF EJECTING SHORTWAVE TROUGH. MODEST SURFACE HEATING AND CONTINUED MOISTENING AT THE SURFACE IS EXPECTED TO SUPPORT MARGINAL TO MODERATE SURFACE-BASED INSTABILITY BY THE LATE MORNING/EARLY AFTERNOON. GIVEN DEGREE OF SHEAR...THIS SHOULD SUPPORT A CONTINUED THREAT OF ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS... INCLUDING TORNADO POTENTIAL. VERY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY THESE STORMS (just what our area DOESN'T need!).
Like I mentioned, with things overcast like they are, I am not holding my breath. It could happen though, so I won't let my guard down.

I am quickly going through the umpteen-thousand pics taken over the past week. I want to try to offer a summary of the whole event, just for historical reference, if nothing else. I think I might do it in stages, since the events occurred in stages and that will help me with the chronology. That being said, looks like I will start with our wedding day. Prior to our wedding, severe storms and heavy rain berated the entire state in literally flooding rains. Literally, starting March 28th, nothing but rain, rain and more rain fell inundating south Georgia's rivers and streams with WAY more than the area could accommodate, leading to major and catastrophic flooding throughout much of the Lowndes and Valdosta, Georgia area (and others). I have heard that a devastating 55 homes were destroyed, as well as many businesses. I have been getting updates from many people, but my dear mother-in-law, who lives on one of the streets hardest hit and thanks to God did not end up with water in her home... has been giving me some of the most heart-wrenching updates of folks who lost all their personal belongings when water invaded their homes. As she walks around the neighborhood and sees the debris, the appliances and the families, she is being impacted greatly. God bless her and all those dealing with this.

Fortunately, our wedding was sandwiched between severe weather the days prior and showers and SNOW afterward. We had a perfectly sunny and warm day, with brilliant blue skies and streams of cirrus clouds wisping about. Couldn't have placed an order for better weather. God was definitely casting his blessing upon that day. A huge thanks to Meso Mike, my dear sister-in-law and Rick for photography and videography during the ceremony. I will share some of the pics from our blessed wedding day. Could the setting have been any better?!Introducing, Mr and Mrs Dewdrop!!! :DI'll cover... the rest of the story another day.

2:30PM: INCOMING!!!Have a wonderful day!!!

  1. Great wedding photos, Dew! I bet the roar of the waterfall in the back ground was an amazing effect. Congrats, again!

Hopefully the Dewvoid wanes and you get something to chase soon.
