The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Do you know that God controls the clouds and makes his lightning flash?

Well, we almost had something...

Well, there you have it... apparently, over the course of the day yesterday, that area in the Caribbean flared up and really gave the tropical predictors something to really talk about, but this morning things aren't looking good for little Invest 90, which is now being absorbed into a much larger non-tropical low over Florida which is bringing rain and powerful wind to much of Florida and south Georgia. Though an unlikely probability, there is a slight chance that a tropical cyclone will develop out of the weak tropical low that has planted itself over the Bahamas.

SATELLITE IMAGES AND SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT THE WEAK AREA OF LOW PRESSURE LOCATED NEAR THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS IS BECOMING ABSORBED BY A LARGER NON-TROPICAL LOW CENTERED OVER FLORIDA. DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM NOW APPEARS UNLIKELY... IN ADDITION...LITTLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NON-TROPICAL LOW OVER FLORIDA IS EXPECTED AS IT MOVES WESTWARD INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO AT 10 MPH OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO. THERE IS A LOW CHANCE...LESS THAN 30 PERCENT...OF TROPICAL CYCLONE DEVELOPMENT IN THIS AREA DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS. THIS WILL BE THE LAST SPECIAL TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK ISSUED FOR THIS SYSTEM.
This is what they expect it might do, as nothing though... It really is an amazing low over Florida. It's presentation on radar is impressive.
Locally, we are seeing quite unseasonably cool weather with lows in the low 50's and highs barely breaching 70°, with wind advisories. The coast is facing issues of beach erosion and high surf, as this powerful low pressure system spins over the state. It doesn't feel much like May at all, or perhaps we are just training for hurricane season.

Have a great day!

  1. I'd take the rain. We need it badly here in Dallas. Not looking forward to another hot 'n dry summer. In fact, I'm dreaming of a summer in Minnesota, like the one I remember when I lived there. There's nothing like the North Land!

    Not sure how I feel about the upcoming hurricane season. I'm not sold on the idea of it being very active. This year looks like the "Year of the Ridges", to me.

    In other news, I have the final version of this year's chase video posted on my blog. Be sure to check it out!

  2. Ken, you can have it, man. I am so tired of this drizzly rain, every day... just enough to mess up your hair, not enough to be fun.

    Year of ridges...? Sigh... as long as I can chase Hurricane Bill, I'm a happy camper.
