The tropical outlook... link. There is a lot of convection building in the western Caribbean... incidentally, where my friends are currently vacationing... yep, the same family that vacationed at Disney during TS Fay. Eek... Fortunately, the area is too heavily sheared for the forecasters to think we have much tropical development potential, but they are definitely keeping an eye on that area, while my friends look for ponchos...
Aside from tropical action and my mentioning yesterday that Vortex2 FINALLY had an intercept... way to go, guys! Link to Vortex2's video. Awesomeness! So much for my hope of ME getting to see one before them. LOL!
Yesterday was an active day for Colorado, Missouri and Iowa. I have seen lots of very photogenic shots of the Colorado tornado. Check this out at my friend, Tony Hake's Examiner site. In all, there were 16 tornado reports over the course of yesterday, with the one Tony references in Aurora, CO, being on the ground for 30 minutes, inflicting damage on the mall there, and causing an 8-10 mile long wake of destruction. On that site, Tony linked a YouTube video of what appears to be a mother standing on the porch with a small child videotaping a funnel cloud as it approaches the ground, ignoring tornado sirens and warnings, which suggest they should have gone to the safe spot, and WORSE YET, exposing her child... as she indicates to apparently another adult who is encouraging her to grow a brain, she says, "this is the only way to make him not afraid. (to the son) Look, we can be this close and we're fine. See, we're fine." Yeah, it will either make him not afraid or it will torment him for the rest of his life. Not coincidentally, one of the people injured yesterday was a man on his front porch videotaping a tornado. Sounds like a good case of reckless endangerment and child abuse to me. See for yourself (warning, adult language)...
Unbelievable. Just for the record, storm chasers are highly trained, well educated in severe weather. Most are storm spotters trained by the NWS, and the only way to safely chase is to observe from a safe distance from the correct side. Mommas who want to teach their kids to not be afraid should be strapped to the outside of a TIV, just my opinion. You know though, I listen to the appeals every day of the Weather Channel asking for pictures and videos from viewers to share the weather in their area. How irresponsible. It won't be long before one of TWC's "weather warriors" sues the Weather Channel for damages. Curiosity killed the cat...
While I am on my soap box, let me share an interesting video Katie shared with me regarding a Global Warming fraud lawsuit against Al Gore.
That's all I have to say about that.
