Still in a slight risk...

Despite dimishing chances at a severe weather event for us, SPC stills sees fit to keep us under a slight risk for tomorrow. Now, I know that a slight risk is just that, a slight risk. I know that it means that there is a small chance of something happening. I know that I should not get my hopes up, and I am not. It's so interesting though to watch the evolution of the models and their (combined with analysts and ensemble runs) forecasting ability. I really missed my calling... or have I? Let's check out what the SPC has to say about their slight risk: ...LOWER MS VALLEY EWD TO NERN GULF COAST REGION... TSTMS...SOME POTENTIALLY SEVERE... ASCENT AHEAD OF MID LEVEL TROUGH AND WITHIN EXIT REGION OF STRONG UPPER JET COMBINED WITH LOW LEVEL WAA ALONG LLJ ARE EXPECTED TO MAINTAIN TSTM ACTIVITY EWD INTO CENTRAL GULF COAST AND SERN STATES. LLJ WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT MOISTURE RETURN INTO CENTRAL/ERN GULF COAST STATES THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AIDING IN AIR MASS DESTABILIZATION. OK, so I am still watching. Time will tell.

South Florida is getting some excitement today. They did have a meso discussion issued earlier this morning. ISOLATED SMALL SUPERCELLS JUST OFF THE FL KEYS ARE LIFTING SLOWLY NWD AND APPROACHING THE FL KEYS. SHORT TERM...A MARGINAL THREAT FOR A BRIEF TORNADO OR WATERSPOUT MAY EXIST AS ACTIVITY MOVES ONSHORE. THREAT COULD POTENTIALLY UNDERGO SOME INCREASE LATER THIS MORNING AS THE BOUNDARY LAYER BEGINS TO WARM. Enjoy the chase, Jeff. Be safe, though. I would love to get my feet wet, figuratively speaking, of course, thanks to my storm chasing shoes that are appropriately waterproof. Every storm that seems to have the right set up, fizzles or drifts. Looking forward to the day when I can get out there and just "Dew" it!!! My day will come. It will. And all of you will get the chance to say you knew me when I was a chaser without a storm.

Currently, I am working with the NWS to try to get some spotter training in our area. I think that will be a good thing, the more training I can get into, the better, and the more spotters out there, the better information can be relayed to the public for their safety. It's a win-win.
