Very small, yet intense, Hurricane Felix is preparing to slam into the Northeastern Nicaraguan coast, now carrying winds of 160mph. That little hurricane packs quite a punch. Hopefully, folks on that coast have sought shelter. Fortunately, hurricane force winds only extend out 45 miles from the center, but with that kind of wind speed, areas of impact could see catastrophic damage.
More to come...
UPDATE: What's amazing to me is that for the first time in 15 years, we have not one but two category 5 storms making landfall as a 1, 2 punch. Hurricane Felix has made landfall this morning on the Northeastern coast of Nicaragua. As Hurricane Felix tracks his way through Nicaragua and Honduras, he should quickly deteriorate. Invest 99L seems to be the next area of interest moving East away from the coast of Florida. It's got potential, but we shall see!
Happy Tuesday!

Felix the Cat 5 looks mean. I'd hate to be on the Guatemala / Nicaragua border...
ReplyDeleteImagine a category 5.
ReplyDeleteI take it your keeping an eye on 99L/TD07/Gabrielle down there in Georgia this morning. Looks like we finally have a closed off area of circulation. I bet its a TD by this afternoon after the plane gets in there. All models predicting a storm.
