the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Another squall bites the dust....

OK, this was just the funniest convective outlook I have ever read. You see the radar capture... Indeed things are holding on this morning over SE Alabama, the FL Panhandle and SW Georgia (the miniature tornado alley of the south...). A lovely slightly bowing squall line with some limited isolated mesos is moving its way across that region... moving to the northeast with fierce speed. Here's what the guys at the SPC have to say about it...

FL PANHANDLE COAST... BROKEN LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS HAS MAINTAINED SMALL BOW ECHO AND A FEW SUPERCELL STRUCTURES EARLY THIS MORNING AS IT ADVANCED EWD ACROSS THE WRN FL PANHANDLE. THE POTENTIAL FOR AN ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND/BRIEF TORNADO SHOULD CONTINUE WITH ONGOING ACTIVITY THIS MORNING GIVEN STRONG LOW AND DEEP LAYER SHEAR AND LIKELIHOOD OF NEAR SURFACE BASED MLCAPE GIVEN MODEST DIURNAL HEATING. HOWEVER... OVERALL SEVERE THREAT APPEARS TO BE DIMINISHING AND SHOULD END DURING THE EARLY TO MID AFTERNOON AS STORMS ENCOUNTER MORE HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT EWD OVER THE NRN FL/SERN GA AND LARGE SCALE ASCENT PULLS FARTHER AWAY FROM THE REGION.
OK, I totally lmao when I read the part the reads "SEVERE THREAT APPEARS TO BE DIMINISHING AND SHOULD END DURING THE EARLY TO MID AFTERNOON AS STORMS ENCOUNTER MORE HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT EWD OVER THE NRN FL/SERN GA". The only thing that they seemed to leave out of that synopsis was the fact that the "more hostile environment" over southern Georgia is the DEWVOID!!! LOL!!! I can hardly contain myself... the Dewvoid strikes again!! Conditions here are overcast with some breaks in the clouds (good for the sake of heating), and it is quite breezy. I can see how quickly the thicker cloud cover is moving in from the SW. I will continue to monitor this system's journey eastward. You will notice that the SPC's slight risk area has shrunk considerably, barely even worth noting now. sigh...

This is beside the point, but why don't you "Go Elf Yourself"? I elfed myself... See? Aren't they fun? I can't believe it is already the holiday season!! I am so not ready!

1:15 Update:Is it just my imagination or is that squall looking all sorts of impressive?! Still holding on, and I am looking at some pretty awesome heating ops right now. Not a lot of instability, but plenty of sunshine. Folks, we might just have ourselves a ball game.

2:30 Update: There you have it, folks. Proof positive that the Dewvoid exists and will continue to torture me for the rest of my life.

Have a great day!

  1. I'm already out of the slight risk box, classic. Looks like some gusty winds and maybe a storm after dark :( FUN!

  2. Darn, Mikey! That stinks! Maybe you'll get a piece of something. I am watching my squall waiting for the Dewvoid to kick in... Looks solid, but the Dewvoid is strong.

  3. The Void has won again. You could probably get a Gov't Research Grant to research this Dewvoid and fund your chasing full time :)
