Happy beautiful fall day! It's Thanksgiving week. The work week is shortened. The sales flyers are arriving. The grocery stores are filled to the brim with candied yams and last minute shoppers. The weather is superb, albeit, stable and dry. Currently, looking out my "window", I see blue skies and some color change in the trees. I detect a slight russle of the leaves as they get caught in the gentle breeze. It was a nice crisp morning this morning, cooler than anticipated even. Yesterday afternoon, I stole a quick moment to capture some of the beautiful colors that we have been graced with down this way.
I am so excited! On Friday, I have plans to travel to the weather service office in Tallahassee to watch the weather balloon/radiosonde launch. I actually visited before back in February (I know what you're thinking, cool weather geek... lol), but timing didn't allow for a launch experience, so since I will be in the area, I have arranged for that to happen. Woohoo! My goal is to capture a great shot of the launch, possibly with the sunset... we shall see... and to talk the guys out of their really cool National Weather Service clock on the wall in the computer room. I guess I will need to be there well ahead of the 6PM launch to get the set up shots. This pic is of Kelly holding up the monstrous balloon, letting Mini-Dew and her friends see how large it is, but explaining that in the upper levels, it can expand to the size of a small house. Coolness. Though the NWS office is not the purpose of my trip, I am glad to be able to make the detour. I will actually be in Tally to visit a comedy club down there. I love to laugh!!!
Well, speaking of the weather service, let me check on what the guys are saying... SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TO BREAK OUT IN THE MOIST ATMOSPHERE AHEAD OF THE FRONT STARTING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS THE WESTERN ZONES (I am in the Eastern Zone...). BEST RAIN CHANCES WILL OVERSPREAD THE CWA WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THE DAY ON THURSDAY. ATTM...KINEMATICS AND STABILITY PARAMETERS DO NOT SUPPORT A SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EVENT...ALTHOUGH A FEW STORMS COULD BE STRONG LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY.
Don't blink though... it'll be gone as quickly as it came. A cold front moves in Thursday dropping temps... then a warm front will move in Saturday afternoon... which adds POPS into the forecast. Hot cold hot cold... the is the stuff that weather is made of... I would love to get something out of all this indecisiveness... so, with that said, on Sunday... THE MODELS BEGIN TO SHOW THEIR DIFFERENCES... HOWEVER...IT APPEARS LIKELY TO SEE ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS AND TSTORMS (POSSIBLY STRONG TO SEVERE) TOWARD THE END OF THE PERIOD ON SUNDAY EVENING/NIGHT AS THE COLD FRONT APPROACHES FROM THE WEST.
So, it appears that Thanksgiving chasetunities are dimishing, but perhaps Sunday could offer up some fun. With me staying in town this year, it is doubtful.
Have a great day!!!

if it gets to the size of a small house...then it is depressing to think that it would still become larger than mine!
